WRITING A GOOD PROMPT

Name the subject. Name the style.

Decal prompts work best when they describe a silhouette first and decoration second. Vague moods produce fuzzy edges that cannot be cut.

Choose

  • One clear subject — an animal, an object, a landscape line
  • An explicit style — "line art", "solid silhouette", "thick outline"
  • A composition hint — "centred", "wide format", "circular badge"

Avoid

  • Photorealistic texture or gradients
  • Multiple unrelated subjects in one prompt
  • Text you have not proofread — spelling is final

Anything with a gradient or soft shadow will be flattened to a single colour. Check that the silhouette still reads.

Will it cut cleanly on a Cricut Joy?
The template keeps strokes at or above 1.4 mm, which is inside the Joy blade range for 651 vinyl. If your vinyl is thinner or your blade is worn, raise the minimum in the preview settings before downloading.
Can I get two colours in one decal?
Not in this template — it is deliberately one layer so it weeds in a single pass. Use the layered template if you want multiple colours with registration marks.
Does the decal include text?
Only if you ask for it. Type the exact wording in the prompt and check the preview character by character; generated lettering can misspell short words.
